We are a team of 9 Students (engineering and physics) from TU Braunschweig and take part in the 25/26 Rexus campaign.
The objective of our experiment is to clarify the collision outcomes between Saturnian ring particles by observing mutual collisions among cm-sized glass marbles that represent the ice particles. We hope to see the formation of one or more clusters and hope to investigate the behavior of this cluster and how it reacts on particles colliding with it. For the last part of the microgravity phase we want to observe particles colliding with the cluster at increasing speeds to measure the maximum velocity.
The REXUS/BEXUS programme allows students from universities and higher education colleges across Europe to carry out scientific and technological experiments on research rockets and balloons. Each year, two rockets and two balloons are launched, carrying up to 20 experiments designed and built by student teams. REXUS and BEXUS are launched from SSC, Esrange Space Center in northern Sweden.
